Review Your Voluntary Benefit Offerings

We’re pleased to offer benefits designed to help you create a personal financial safety net that can help protect you against the unexpected. Your medical and disability insurance may not be enough to cover all your extra expenses and out-of-pocket costs associated with an accident, hospital stay or critical illness.

Voluntary benefits are an easy and cost-effective way to protect your income and savings while complementing your existing benefits. Premiums are post-tax paid by the team member. These benefits cannot be dropped or added in the middle of the year. To learn more about MetLife benefits, visit metlife.com/onemain.

Critical Illness Insurance

MetLife Critical Illness insurance provides a lump-sum payment if you or a covered family member is diagnosed with one of the following medical conditions and meets the policy and certificate requirements: cancer, heart attack, stroke, coronary artery bypass graft, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s disease, major organ transplant or other listed conditions.

Your plan pays a Recurrence Benefit equal to the Initial Benefit for the following covered conditions: heart attack, stroke, coronary artery bypass graft, full benefit cancer and partial benefit cancer. A Recurrence Benefit is only available if an Initial Benefit has been paid for the covered condition. There is a Benefit Suspension Period between recurrences.

Payments are made directly to you, not to the doctors, hospitals or other healthcare providers. Checks are mailed directly to your home. The payment you receive is yours to spend as you see fit.

Please make sure to elect a beneficiary if you enroll in this benefit. Log into your MetLife account to complete the steps.

Hospital Indemnity Insurance

MetLife’s Hospital Indemnity Insurance works to complement your medical coverage and pays in addition to what your medical plan may pay. A flat amount is paid for the day that you are admitted to a hospital and a per-day amount is paid for each day of a covered hospital stay, from the very first day of your stay. The plan covers hospitalizations due to sickness, injury and maternity. See your Disclosure Statement or Outline of Coverage/Disclosure Document for full details.

Accident Insurance

If you or a covered family member experience any of the events listed in the chart below, accident insurance will provide you with a payment to use as you see fit. There are no waiting periods for coverage to begin, and payment is in addition to any other insurance you may have. This payment can help you focus more on getting back on track and less on the extra expenses an accident may bring. Please make sure to select a beneficiary if you enroll in this benefit. Log into your MetLife account to complete the steps. This plan provides protection 24 hours a day—while on or off the job.
